Maryland Cosmetology Program Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve looked into enrolling in other cosmetology schools but their classes were so large… how many students are in the classes at Aveda Institute Maryland?
The program at Aveda is designed around creating the best learning environment possible. Our freshman class is up to 15 students which mean smaller class sizes and more one-on-one attention. Generally our 6000 square foot facility can accommodate up to 70 students.
What is the background of the instructor staff at Aveda?
Staff members are board certified and have a minimum of five years of salon experience. All Instructors are Senior Cosmetologist or must obtain their Senior Cosmetology within first year of employment.
Can I complete the Cosmetology program in a shorter time than the standard 1500 hours?
No. The Maryland Higher Education Commission and the State Board of Cosmetology mandates a course length of 1500 hours for any cosmetology program, regardless of what school you attend. Many of our students have found that, compared to the costs of our competitors, Aveda is a much more cost effective solution.
Why is there a difference in tuition between cosmetology schools is it because they don’t teach the same curriculum?
All cosmetology schools in Maryland are governed by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) and must teach the same curriculum. Because the same material is taught at every cosmetology school in Maryland we feel Aveda offers a greater value for the same education compared to other programs.
I’m not sure I can afford the tuition, can I receive financial aid?
In order to find out if you qualify for financial aid you need to fill out a FAFSA form. Assistance with the form is available upon request.
How much does the program cost?
Tuition for the cosmetology program at Aveda is $19,300 which includes a e-books, theory work book, exam book, and a kit which includes manikins and everything you will need to go through the course.
